Where there was once only kitsch, now there is .... more kitsch
We decided to do something about our guest bathroom, which was designed in 1971 by people who were obviously on the very best psychedelic drugs available at that time. The appliances are an icky, mustard yellow and the tile 'matches' only because it's icky yellow, but splattered. Someday we'd like to remodel, but for now we painted and added a shower curtain and a 'surfboard' rug which is trying to pull all the colors together. So now its decor inspires me to laugh, instead of gag. Which is an improvement.

Our First Trip to SUUSI in Virginia
Along with about 20 other members of our congregation, River of Grass Unitarian Universalist, we made the trip to SUUSI this year. Here Jackie and the boys are waiting for the banner parade to start ...
Each one of these banners represents a congregation at SUUSI
Tons of kids to play with
Brian loved the rock climbing wall! We went tubing down the New River-- chilly!

Gymnastics Class
Brian has been taking gymnastics for over a year and is doing very well. A few months ago he moved up to intermediate boys' class along with Christopher. A couple of weeks ago Patrick suddenly expressed an interest in doing the class with them and he just joined right in and is doing great with Coach T and all the kids!

Welcome, Charlie!
In January of 2008 we got Smokey when he was just a kitten and we had high hopes. He was adorable and spunky in the way that all kittens are. But as time went by we realized that people are not his top priority. He has no interest in being held or petted. Everything and everyone is prey. We decided that he was born to be a mouser aboard a pirate ship.
So this time we deliberately chose a grown-up kitty who is obviously a lap-cat, lover of his peeps. Here is Charlie:
