Friends

This is a picture of Patrick, Brian and Christopher with their friend John from down the street. It just cracks me up because John, Brian and Christopher are all the same age : )

Welcome, Charlie!

In January of 2008 we got Smokey when he was just a kitten and we had high hopes. He was adorable and spunky in the way that all kittens are. But as time went by we realized that people are not his top priority. He has no interest in being held or petted. Everything and everyone is prey. We decided that he was born to be a mouser aboard a pirate ship.

So this time we deliberately chose a grown-up kitty who is obviously a lap-cat, lover of his peeps. Here is Charlie:

Housekeeping

The aquarium was in desparate need of cleaning so we did that and got a couple of 'sea fans' and now it looks great!

More Sebastian

Two things cannot be over-stated: the beauty of this place and its wildlife; and how much more fun it is to have access to the water with the kayak and "PawPaw's Ride" our inflatable boat, a gift from my father, Malcolm : )

Sebastian Inlet

We spent five beautiful days camping at Sebastian Inlet and for the first time we had not one but two (!) little boats to use. We had such a great time hanging out with our friends Dan and William and had a campsite right on the intercoastal. More pictures on Monday...

Home improvement

This is our new impact-glass front door we had installed last month, along with windows for five other rooms. Hurricane season will be a lot easier on us knowing we (and when I say "we" I mean Jackie) won't have to put up shutters for every storm that looms on the horizon. It's also nice because it lets a lot of light into our living room. Plus it allows our little neighborhood friend, Angel Kitty, let us know when it's time to serve up supper. Future home improvements include dealing with that ugly rug she's sitting on.

Homeschool Project

We were at http://www.brainpop.com/ watching some educational videos when we found some about all the systems of the body. Brian was inspired to do a project where we traced the outline of his body on a big sheet of butcher paper and then drew in and labeled the major body systems. It came out pretty neat:
